We sometimes select our obedience towards God’s commands. That happens when we blatantly ignore what we know to be God’s will for our lives. We are cultivating a habit of disobedience that will eventually rule our lives.

I know there are many of us that choose selective obedience. But the bible teaches us to obey ALL of his commands. In which areas of your life are you practising selective obedience? The only way to develop obedience as a habit is to obey all that you know to be the truth. You will never obey God consistently until you are convinced that God exists and that God rewards those who obey him.

STEP 1 – Go to the book of Hebrews 11:6 and write down this scripture in your Prayer Journal… (this is one of my favourite scriptures)

So if you don’t have faith, you cannot obey God, because how can you be obedient if you don’t believe. The necessity in believing in an invisible God’s excistence is an obvious prerequisite for obedience. Nevertheless, a belief in the reality of God is not enough to sustain consistent obedience to God. We must believe there is a payoff somewhere at some time for submitting to his commands.

Read the rest of Hebrews and you will discover, men and women who obeyed God for one reason: they were looking for a reward. Some like Noah, received immediate reward, but Moses died without seeing any reward. But none of them mentioned in Hebrews received their full reward, because your full reward for obedience is not in this lifetime anyway!! NO act of obedience, no matter how big or small, is inconsequential. Selective obedience blinds us to our disobedience.
